The Tango is a dance wherein the dance partners are almost chest to chest so it creates immediately intimacy. TANGO, the dance, is a conversation between two people. You, and a dance partner, can express musical moods through improvised movements. You can dance simple tango after one lesson, but spend a lifetime developing your own dancing. Tango originated in the “Rio de la Plata” at the turn of the last century, and born within the immigrant and lower class communities in this area. During the next few decades tango spread throughout South American society and then throughout the world.

A Learn to Dance ‘Did-you-know?’ – Polka this is a quick and lively dance that was introduced by in the Czech Republic. There are many versions of this dance and the version in the United States involves less turning. Characteristically polka couples circle the ballroom, often at reckless speeds, using a simple step, close, step, and hop technique. The music is in 2/4 time with a strong, defining upbeat. Because of polkas long history it has acquired many terms and phrases, essentially its own vocabulary, contributing to the size of this cultural icon. The polka continued to be danced in the 20th century but less commonly than the fox-trot and latter forms.
